It has only been a few months since I have started driving a toronto limo for starnightlimousine.ca but so far it has been one of the most enjoyable experiences that I have had the pleasure of having. I’m lucky that I was even able to find a job as Toronto has had a down turn in the economy unfortunately, leaving many of us without work. Truth be told, I’ve often wondered what it would be like to become a limousine driver! They always seem so well dressed and composed but it’s not too hard to look great in such a fine suit. A suit makes a man, as they say! Since I started driving for a local venue here in town I have been asked by my friends what it’s like to drive a limo and what kind of experience they might need themselves to be able to get a job doing what I do.
The first thing that I tell them is that they will want to want the job; driving a limousine means that you are going to be spending a lot of time giving your fare an experience rather than just ‘a ride’: you’re not a taxi driver! You have to be dependable and loyal to the customer that you are working for, you’ll want to have good vision, hand-eye-coordination and even some basic math skills because some customers are still using cash. While you might not always make the most money, I only make thirteen dollars an hour, it is still a good wage for doing what you are. I find something very zen and calming about driving a limousine although you will have to be able to qualify for a special license before you can just start driving for anyone! If you are as inspired as I was about driving, I wholly encourage doing so!
